(ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is stepping up efforts to boost exports of
agricultural commodities and products from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) to Japan through strategic
collaboration with partners. Kadin Deputy Chair for Agriculture Devi Erna Rachmawati stressed that Japan remains a
highly strategic market, citing strong demand for high-quality and environmentally friendly agricultural products. To
capitalize on the opportunity, Kadin’s bilateral committee held a meeting with the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and
Medium Enterprise Support Center and Japanese business partners in Tokyo on July 31, according to a statement received
here on Sunday. Rachmawati described the Tokyo forum as a collaborative platform to help Indonesian businesses enter the
Japanese market by improving product quality, meeting standardization requirements, obtaining certifications, connecting
with potential partners, and strengthening distribution networks. “This collaboration reflects Kadin
Indonesia’s concrete commitment to strengthening national exports. Our goal is to ensure that Indonesian MSME and
agricultural products can compete in Japan through quality improvement, innovation, and sustainable business
partnerships,” Rachmawati noted. She explained that Kadin’s member businesses in the agricultural sector
would initially prioritize exports of key commodities, including tempeh, horticultural products grown using cocopeat
growing media, and organic fertilizer to support sustainable farming practices. Beyond expanding trade, the
collaboration is expected to create opportunities for investment, technology transfer, downstream industry development,
and capacity-building programs to help Indonesian MSMEs meet global market standards. The deputy chair said the
partnership demonstrates Kadin’s commitment to supporting national economic growth by expanding international
trade, strengthening MSMEs, and modernizing the agriculture sector to enhance global competitiveness. She expressed hope
that stronger synergy with the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center would enable more
Indonesian entrepreneurs to enter the Japanese market. Related news: Indonesia raises cocoa export benchmark on supply
