narrowed to 6%, though the monsoon continues to be 17% deficient so far. The US meteorological agency, the Climate

As many as 126.94 lakh hectares (lh) of area were covered under kharif sowing during the July 11-17 period, compared to
67.78 lh a year ago. This has led to a remarkable recovery in the area of sowing, as the overall deficit has now shrunk
to 6 per cent, down from 16 per cent as of July 10 and 21 per cent as of July 5. Read more here2. The Climate
Prediction Center, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in its report ENSO: Recent Evolution, Current
Status and Predictions, expects El Nino to strengthen through the end of the year, and there is a 97 per cent chance it

first eight months of the oil year 2025-26 (November-October), the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA)
